Really liking the look of this idea. Can incorporate some serious maya modelling and animation skills
It'd be a fun to work on something like that. We can implement some great level design into it as well.

Unless we somehow convince the university to fund it for us (or Realtime Worlds to buy the idea :P).But seriously, is there any chance we might receive some funding towards this?
